It saddens me to write that this week Tim's battalion received their official orders for deployment. He probably won't have a specific date for departure until January, although it wouldn't matter much if he did since it will change at least ten times once we do get a date--guaranteed. A teensy, tiny, itty-bitty part of me hoped the rumors about the potential cancellation of this deployment were true, but in my heart of hearts I knew they wouldn't pull his battalion.
The upside (if there is one) is that multiple women have told me that the second deployment--with a child this time--is easier than the first one without a child, in the sense that you're intensely occupied and don't have as much time to worry endlessly. On the other hand, it will be much more difficult as I have to raise a baby without my husband. But it's a common practice in this military world of ours so I will have plenty of women to look to for advice and family to lean on for support!
Let's pray this is the last deployment we have to endure!
