For those of you who aren't familiar with Wilma, she is our little special needs dog. I got her from a shelter near Fort Hood when Tim was last deployed. She was so tiny and malnourished; I probably should have picked up then and there that something was wrong, but I fell in love with her right away and brought her home as a playmate for Zazua (who wouldn't leave the door for two weeks after Tim left and kept crying and crying for him). Once we got Wilma, Zazua took an interest in her and no longer sat wallowing at the door. Three days after Wima came home she became very ill and after months of vet visits was finally diagnosed with megaesophagus, esophagitis, and bullus vomiting. Despite all her issues and the attention she requires to stay healthy (daily prilosec, prescription food, elevated feedings, being held upright after feeding to prevent regurgitation, and frequent meals to prevent her from vomiting bile) she brings great joy to our family, especially Tim. He is SO in love with this dog; he jokingly calls her his P.T.S.D. dog.
Now that my belly is starting to protrude, Wilma likes to rest her head on my stomach while I hold her after she eats. It's pretty sweet, whether she intends it to be or not, haha. Below are some pictures. You can click on each one to enlarge the image.
